WHO I AM
Hello! My name is Brian Morley, I am a Master’s student studying Audio Technology at American University in Washington, D.C. I’m passionate about creating engaging audio experiences across media and I’m always looking for a new challenge to sharpen my skills.
SELECTED WORKS
Below is a collection of projects that represent my journey in sound design and production
Celeste (2018) Sound Redesign
My capstone project at American University was a reimagining of the sound effects and score in Maddy Makes Games’ 2018 platformer Celeste. Over the course of my final semester I learned Ableton Live and FMOD so that I could record, redesign, and implement the majority of the sound effects (sans water SFX) from the game’s third level. I also composed and recorded original music, enhancing the haunted hotel vibe with a “spooky synth bossa nova” and reimagining the both pensive and driving soundtrack with a synth composition inspired by early 2000’s racing games. I also played guitar on the bossa nova tune.
Gentle Power (2025)
In my second year at American University I completed noise reduction, mixing, and sound design on Joshua Joe’s capstone documentary Gentle Power. The short film follows Joshua’s journey of learning about ASMR and the people who create it. With such an audio-intensive subject, clarity and engaging sound were imperative, allowing for creative sound design that made my first visual media project an absolute joy to work on.
Freddy Mac NPR Tiny Desk submission (2026)
My most recent projects include 3 live-in-studio performances I engineered, edited, and mixed for the D.C. based band Freddy Mac. Featured here is their song The Hive.
Man About A Horse debut EP (2025)
In the summer leading up to my first semester at American University I had the pleasure of recording my band’s self-titled debut EP Man About A Horse. My very first recording project, all 6 songs were recorded in my living room in Northampton, Massachusetts. My contributions include engineering drum recordings and playing bass on the record.
